About Us
What We Do
The Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA)
Formed in 2002 to unite web industry professionals across Australia, AWIA's purpose is to keep members up to date with news, events, resources and best practice, and to build trust and understanding of the Australian web industry.
AWIA has become one of the largest dedicated web industry associations of its kind in Australia. Our monthly networking meetings regularly attract 40-60 individuals from varying cross-sections of the web industry, our occasional speaking events have attracted 150-200 attendees each, and our online communities (Facebook, Twitter, Slack, LinkedIn and Meetups) have over 7,000 active participants and a total of over 40,000 posts.
Already a member?
Log in to manage your account and access member privileges. Check out the latest news, put the next event in your diary - and don't forget to submit your own. If you haven't received an AWIA Slack invitation email (and you are a member) let us know.
Interested in Sponsorship?
Do you have a product or service you'd like to expose to Australia's largest online community of web professionals? Be an AWIA sponsor. Simply email us to discuss your sponsorship ideas, and the opportunities we can provide.
Not a member yet?
Join now, or come along to one of our Port80 meetups where members can tell you about the benefits of joining AWIA. Port80 meetings are held in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, with associated events in Brisbane and Hobart.

F #8217;UP Nights
@ The Dream Factory
Jun 22 @ 6:00 pm 鈥 8:00 pm
We aim to celebrate the mistakes, the failures, and stories that make us the humans that we are.
F #8217;Up Nights is a global movement born in Mexico in 2012 to share public business failure stories with hundreds of people attending each event around the world. Each month 3 speakers will be invited to talk about their FuckUp stories; we鈥檒l learn about their biggest mistakes, what they learned, how they moved on- all whilst sharing invaluable advice along the way.
The speakers will candidly share in 7 minutes:
What their project / business was
What went wrong / How it affected their personal life / What they learned / What they would do differently.
At the end of each person鈥檚 story, you鈥檒l have a chance to ask questions- nothing too cheeky, but feel free to dig around.You鈥檒l hear stories and advice you won鈥檛 get elsewhere #8211; and these stories will (hopefully) put you in good stead to not make the same F #8217;Up.

Camp JS
@ Lord Somers Camp
Aug 4 @ 9:00 am 鈥 Aug 7 @ 5:00 pm
CampJS is for anyone who is interested in web technology. Beginners #038; experts, all are welcome.
Networking with other developers is arguably the most valuable aspect of a conference, yet it鈥檚 often a hurried and fleeting affair that happens in-between the schedule of a regular conference 鈥 but CampJS isn鈥檛 a regular conference. This weekend-long retreat allows everyone enough time to learn new things, relax and most importantly: create real friendships and connections.
CampJS creates a unique blend of expert-led, structured content and self-directed, unstructured learning. Some content is scheduled, but the main area is reserved for hacking. The final night is reserved for demos for people to show off what they have built or learned at the event.
