Tourist Authorities Focus On The South: Thailand Spot
July 21, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
TOURIST AUTHORITIES FOCUS ON THE SOUTH: It has long been claimed that northeastern聽Thailand is the country #8217;s most neglected tourism area. However, with that area now set to be revived as a stepping stone to the Greater Mekong Subregion countries, it is the situation in southern Thailand that is attracting the most attention, especially in the wake of the recent unrest.
Next month, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is to spend 34 million baht on a five-day travel and cultural extravaganza to be held in Songkhla from Aug 4-8 to showcase its tourism attractions and underscore the region #8217;s social, economic and cultural stability.

Softball is his game: The introduction of Softball League
July 13, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
Softball League
Meet the commissioner. Mike Meiches was born in Omaha, Neb, He had two desires: to be president of the U.S. or to be a professional baseball player. Polities went out of his mind with the assassination of Robert Kennedy, and baseball became a hobby and then the main focus of a life filled with entrepreneurial surprises. Today, Mike is commissioner of the Los Angeles Advertising Softball League and founder/commissioner of ADWEEK #8217;s Advertising Softball World Series.
By the time I got to the University of Nebraska, #8221; he remembers, #8220;I had become more of a spectator than a participant in sports, especially fastpitch softball bats. I majored in business, looking forward to a career in some sort of business. After my freshman year I corresponded with and then visited my aunt and uncle in Southern California. During that summer they convinced me that I had a natural talent for writing. So when I returned to college in the fall, I switched to a double major in advertising and journalism. I made the weekly newspaper staff at college in my sophomore year, became sports editor as a junior and in my senior year I was promoted to editor. They ask me what is you best fastpitch softball bats you love the most. That #8217;s a difficult to answer in my entire life. #8221;

Disabled persons program come into actions

Disabled persons program comes into actions
Pat Hallett, director of the federal government #8217;s transport of disabled persons program, says guidelines placing upper limits on the numbers of non-ambulatory, non self-reliant passengers and access to emergency exit seating are currently under review by the National Transportation Agency. New guidelines are expected sometime this year, but in the meantime, Canadian carriers are administering the rules with kid gloves.
#8220;It #8217;s in no one #8217;s interest to get involved with unduly limiting (disabled passengers), #8221; Mr. Hallett said. Even the thorny subject of exit row seating #8220;has heated up a little, but it #8217;s generally calm. #8221;

Ruling opens more doors to handicapped travellers to the USA

Ruling opens more doors to handicapped travellers
CAREY FRENCH WHILE DISABLED people in Canada await the outcome of a federal review of their rights as travellers, their counterparts in the United States recently received good news.
The U.S. Transportation Department has issued rules that, while failing to open all doors to handicapped travellers, at least take some of the heat out of what has been a long and emotional argument. Under the new guidelines, an airline will no longer be allowed to limit the number of handicapped people on a flight or require them to travel with companions.
At the same time, Washington overturned the right of carriers to restrict seating based on handicap. The exceptions are rows adjacent to emergency exits which, under Federal Aviation Authority rules, must be reserved for people capable of opening escape hatches and performing emergency functions, such as freeing up stuck escape chutes.

The USA to Britain travel fare war looms
July 10, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
One UK Travel Passport to the USA
The prospect is so alarming for the British, who have fewer carriers than their U.S. cousins and are therefore more vulnerable, that the long- awaited privatization of state-owned British Airways has been stalled. The Government of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher apparently reasons that with a capacity war looming, this is no time to cut BA loose. Officials of the airline take a more optimistic line: a spokesman in Toronto said that with international airline profits already under pressure, it is not axiomatic that failure in the talks will lead to a cut-price conflict.

Many teams serving feasts for football fans

Many teams serving feasts for football fans
The Green Bay Packers #8217; bye week has offered us two weeks to bemoan the obvious-that it will be another long winter of discontent for the Green and Gold faithful. But all is not lost for football fans of Wisconsin in general and the Janesville area in particular. The Wisconsin Badgers are off to a 6-1 start. They #8217;re already bowl eligible. Their success has surprised many fans, who wondered how the team would perform under new coach Bret Bielema as the post-Barry Alvarez era begins. The Badger offense under senior quarterback John Stocco started the season slowly after losing a bevy of skill players to the professional ranks. Yet after an amazing three-week stretch in which the Badgers piled up nearly 150 points, Stocco #8217;s statistics are comparable to those of last year, when so much seasoned talent surrounded him. Expos get shortstop from K.C
July 6, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
Alex Gordon鈥檚 injury in the outfield is a shock to the system for Royals
Shortstop U. L. Washington will be sent to the Montreal Expos by the Kansas City Royals, according to a report in The Kansas City Star.
The report says the Royals will pay half of Washington #8217;s $650,000 salary for 1985. In return, the Royals will get two minor-league players #8211; Ken Baker, a 29-year-old outfielder, and Michael Kinnuenen, a 26-year-old left-handed pitcher.
Washington, 31, made his major-league debut with the Royals in September, 1977. The Pittsburgh Pirates announced yesterday that they have acquired Bill Stein from the Texas Rangers in a conditional trade that hinges on the utility infielder passing a physical examination.

July 3, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
A year ago, the Team Conxion softball team finished fourth at the Illinois Amateur Softball聽Association 12U state tournament. With many players returning, including pitcher Jordan Brite of Griggsville, the team was primed and ready for a good season this summer.
It ended with a state championship. #8220;Everything we did this season was just to make us better athletes in softball, #8221; Brite said. #8220;Going to state #8212; as soon as we got there a whole bunch of us girls were so happy. From when we went (to state) last year, our fundamentals and what we did in those games have gotten better. #8221; Brite pitched all seven games at this year #8217;s state tournament, played July 5-8 in Moline. After dropping its first two games, the Conxion reeled off five consecutive victories to claim the #8220;B #8221; bracket championship. Continue reading rarr;

ROUNDUP Cricket: Mohammed Azharuddin each scored hundreds
June 24, 2015 by santabarbararealestate
Azharuddin became the eighth Indian to make a century on his Test debut
Ravi Shastri and newcomer Mohammed Azharuddin each scored hundreds while sharing a record fifth-wicket stand for India against England on the third day yesterday of the third Test at Calcutta. Azharuddin became the eighth Indian to make a century on his Test debut before he was caught shortly before the close by England captain David Gower in the gully off a short ball from Norman Cowans for 110.
It was the only wicket to fall all day, as India, which was struggling at 127 for four when Shastri and Azharuddin joined forces on the first day, advanced from 174 for four overnight to 348 for five. Shastri remained unbeaten on 108, his second century of the series. England #8217;s spin bowlers, Pat Pocock and Phil Edmonds, allowed the batsmen few scoring chances and during the afternoon session Shastri scored just 12 runs, a rate of progress with which the crowd of 80,000 became increasingly impatient.
