9hrs, 32mins ago - posted by CopperbronzeYour portfolio images are dated 2011 so unless your look hasn't changed in the intervening years they're not all that relevant. You need to contact a couple of photographers whose work you like and offer your services for a couple of TF shoots then restock your portfolio with up to date images. Only then will anyone's opinions be helpful to you 10hrs, 18mins ago - posted by RedCheckerMy mojo's almost always been affected by external influences such as bad health, finances, having a crap time at work etc. For the past 3/4 years I don't seem to have had a break from one thing or another which is irritating to say the least, as past experience has taught me never to shoot when you're not in a good way and especially stressed.Other than that, simply wanting to reverse engineer some technique/lighting style works for me, or simply buying some new piece of equipment that I'm keen to try out. I've only ever attended courses when in the swing of shooting in the first place, as I'd feel I won't pick anything up if my 'photography head' isn't screwed on properly for the course.1 day ago - posted by AndyGStudiosPer image lol, I wish, the folks up here don't think that way unfortunately. That said, yeah you have to monetise, the camera is a tool. Some might say the owner is the tool too in certain circles It's great to have fun, but really, what can you actually DO with the pictures? not much really.Unless there's a good reason to shoot something, I don't shoot, the fun and competitive aspect of it left me long ago. Those who still do, have way deeper pockets than me, I settle for garden daisies if owt, actually I probably take more random type of the moment 'life' shots with the phone than I do the nikon these days; there's just no real 'point' to it anymore unless someone is hiring. And if the money isn't right - they can swivel lol For all my hard work, effort, sweat tears over the last 10 years, i've gotten precisely... nowhere, unless you count folks thieving from me, taking advantage, stabbing me in the back, or asking me to work for nowt; I eventually got tired of that. And that... is why I play synths now as my relaxation and fun (I was always into my music), and drive a truck to cover the bills. In both cases I don't have to interract with any phucker any more... it's just me and myself and I. But yeah, photography, dead in the water... the only 拢拢 I make from it, is usually via lawsuits, by keeping a beady eye on google images. Pays well, but like badly performed anal... it's a right pain in the arse. LOL1 day ago - posted by RedCheckerQuote from Plymjack
The recent BBC4 ? profile of photography was very interesting but the presenter looked down on digital (and colour!) formats so came over as very a**l..
That #39;s a far cry from a BBC technology documentary I saw some years ago which looked at some new compact digital camera in which Kate Humble claimed that it #39;s better quality than film simply because it was digital (yes, I scratched my head at the time too)6 days ago - posted by carolparry Hi yes, I have gathered that too, many thanks for reply...and I now have a photographer who can now help me if the occasion arises again..any thankBye xx6 days ago - posted by MoorlaneThank you everyone. The cost was based on use of a 2-3 bar electric fire in use during the 2 week period6 days ago - posted by AndyGStudiosQuote from Ladiesman I think this is more like the truth of the matter.Yeah i've heard this type of talk first hand at my old studio a few times. One photographer's dying wish was to work with this one model who was attending for a booked shoot - she came out of the session, had a quick chat with him, and when he left, that was the response... the guy passed on 2 weeks later, Colin, lovely bloke too, RIP . Such a shame. Mainly a landscape chap but wanted to have a crack at doing a model shoot. With judgemental types, you will always waste your time unless you look like Remmington Steele and drive a fancy car. Best avoided imho, not worth the stress or mental scarring.Read the models feed on FB or Twitter if they have one, or forum posts, if they appear to be constantly whining, complaining, or criticising - might pay to think twice before you book.7 days ago - posted by RedCheckerOnly last week Olympus announced they're no longer making 4/3 lenses. They're concentrating their efforts on Micro 4/3 now.7 days ago - posted by TheChrisSWent today and parted with more money than I had planned... picked up a nice new tripod, Manfrotto camera slider, speedlite diffuser and sensor cleaning kit (as I fancied giving it a go for the first time). I now have a completely dust free sensor, so no trips to the camera shop required.I also note a rather appalling drone demonstration near the food area - the pilot managed to entangle the drone in the netting, managed to shake it loose but failed to catch it as it smashed into three pieces on the floor. The audience soon dispersed after that.8 days ago - posted by redbaronHave used Brian Chapman in the past to repair and service Bowens kit so may well be worth contacting to see if he can do things a lot cheaper days ago - posted by D4vidIf anyone is interested i would consider reasonable offers ??11 days ago - posted by aw72Thank you very much for posting. Sad news indeed.Matt, in the days when he was running his commercial studio, gave me my introduction to studio photography and my first lessons in lighting. We have lost a character, a talented photographer and an inspiration.11 days ago - posted by atumedaQuote from atumedayou mean it?imagine one model says yes and turns up ..Then I have to borrow my wifes car ( mine loses half a liter water per day), and then WORK ??? Great suggestion, thank you.20 days ago - posted by HowardJI mentioned this conviction to a model today and she said:"I don't care what the papers say. They are a great company to work for and I enjoy working for them. That fact is I do my job and I get paid and I go home it's very simple! Our weekly Thursday night group shoot will feature the lovely Lisamichelle this week.
There are still places available. pound;13 per photographer.
7pm till 10pm
Well they are usually quite laid back. The evenings are fashion based and we book a good standard model each week. Depending on numbers, we sometimes run to 2 models. With having 2 studios there is always plenty of room to accommodate everyone. However we do keep an eye on numbers as we want everyone to have a decent amount of shoot time.
We work across 2 studios and always try and have a fairly creative evening.
Plenty of tea and coffee available.
Come and try us...
Old faces as well as new ones welcome...
We have an event page to advertise this.
You can also see a link to lisa #39;s modelling profile via here.
Message us to book in.

28 days ago - posted by PRPStudiosPRP Studios is proud to announce that Penny will be our subject model on our glamour, topless and art nude workshop on Sunday 5th March2017
The workshop is open for up to a maximum of 7 photographers and starts at 11:00 and finishes at 18:30. You can come and go whenever you want if you can #39;t make the full day. On the day you get frequent and exclusive shooting access to Penny. At PRP our workshops are run on a one-to-one basis between model and photographer. Refreshments are provided free throughout the day, as is ample free parking. This is a great opportunity for experienced photographers and amateurs alike. The atmosphere is friendly, and help that is needed is given by an experienced and professional photographer, who is on hand throughout the day.
These are popular workshops and are restricted to a maximum of 7 togs only, so confirm your interest at the earliest opportunity, as we hate to see people get disappointed on the day by arriving to a full house.
At pound;60 for the whole day it is tremendous value. So make a note in your diary
Interested contact us here or through our web sites
34 days ago - posted by HowardJI think the robot will have a Jaffa Cake dispenser as an optional extra. 37 days ago - posted by FlashBangWallopThanks MG and I **DO** realise you meant it in a nice way (as stated)....but I ain't going to be changing how I am. I quite like it....not having to be chatty because I dont want to be. I find honesty is always the best policy so I dont agree it was a terrible response. The studio was never a for profit venture...and I do get paid shoots that pays for its upkeep.I have other hobbies/ventures now which are far more lucrative and use my creative talent equally but don't quite give me the buzz of a good shoot. That's really the ONLY part I miss. So there is some mojo lurking down there somewhere.Anyhow - I appreciate you mean well...@redbaron - Im not shy, nervous etc...I'm just not chatty...I prefer myself that way If I feel the need to better myself photographically I'll take another gander at that site, thanks. 37 days ago - posted by DavidharrisThat would make more sense 39 days ago - posted by AndyGStudiosI doubt any kit in 40yrs will be able to read hard drives and TF cards, so they will probably end up in a museum with a little display reading "corrupted hard drive containing a million stamp sized images" (judging by the resolutions available by then lol... 25k probably)I printed a couple of books of my best stuff... they are for handing down, that's it really.40 days ago - posted by AndyGStudiosDidn't think that'd last long...56 days ago - posted by PlymjackI use Amazon primes latest "top 100" - models then think Im in 60 days ago - posted by PaulManuellI've recently bought the Manfrotto 055 Xpro 3 and the Xpro 3 head and just practised using it, though not on a shoot. All I can say is f*** me, it's a serious piece of kit. It's solid as a rock, and even without the centre column raised it places my camera's viewfinder at all but eye level (I'm 5' 11"), so no having to raise the centre column with the instability doing so causes. My current tripod, the Manfrotto 190CLB, looks like a toy in comparison. It's served me well over the years but I felt it was time for a change and I'm really chuffed with my choice. Can't wait to use it on a shoot, especially for some near ground level shots with its tilting centre column. The only negative I could find from my quick familiarisation with everything is the fact there's only 1 small screw to lock the head in place, rather than the 3 on the 190. Even with the head screwed onto the tripod and the small locking screw tightened as much as I dared, I was still able to unscrew the head with not too much effort. Now retightened, I'll make sure to keep a screw driver in my camera bag and check the screw regularly. Like I said, though, that's the only negative I could find; over all this seems like a brilliant setup. Edit: I forgot to mention the handles on the head - with just a pull they extend outwards, making them easier to use when the camera's attached (no fiddling about with awkward to access stubby ones), then just push back in when packing away after a shoot. Awesome.60 days ago - posted by LadiesmanI had a go at wedding photography last year for friends...... never again! It is very hard work. My advice is to make sure you got a very good assistant who can carry your stuff from room to room. Good luck!
