Archimandrite Gerasim: Members one of another #8211;鈥淲e, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another鈥 (Romans 12:5)
Our greatest asset in our pastoral and evangelical work is the Church to which we belong: the Church of Christ, which is the Body of Christ. Being members of the One Body of Christ makes us members one of another. As we 鈥減ut on Christ鈥 in Baptism, we become members one of another. 聽We will provide some sketches of what the Church is in order to challenge ourselves to present our faith to our friends, neighbors, and the larger community that surrounds our parishes. The welcoming church family should also include those with a disabled child (lifelong caregiver), those with chronic and acute (sometimes fatal) illnesses, those who do not feel welcome in the Church (includes cradle Orthodox and converts), and those who feel alienated in other ways. We will examine both failures and successes in the mission of the Church in the 21st century in the task of welcoming our brothers and sisters in Christ into our midst.
V. Rev. Anthony Karbo: 鈥淏ut whosoever will be great鈥︹ (Matthew 20:26): Attributes of a 鈥済reat鈥 parish family!
We shall look to Christ as the model in both word and deed of 鈥済reatness鈥, and how such 鈥済reatness鈥 is understood in the writings of the Saints, both old and new. Then we shall apply this understanding to our relationships with one another as Brother and Sister in the parish family, as well our witness to the world around us. Specifically, I will strive to reference both word and deed of Christ as the model of greatness and apply His attributes to the parish family.
