At the tender age of 18 I decided it was time to venture out into the scary unknown that us Islanders call lsquo;The Mainland rsquo;. I stepped on to the ferry with trepidation and after a quick drive, arrived at the campus of my chosen university where I met a lovely bunch of people from all over the country. Upon first meeting we exchanged the usual chatter: ldquo;Hi, nice to meet you, where are you from? rdquo; etcetera etcetera.
