VA, DOD Continue Collaboration
On May 21, VA Secretary Shinseki and Defense Secretary Panetta toured the Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, named after Capt. James Lovell (pictured). DOD and VA have developed a joint record-sharing program that will be rolled out at medical centers in Virginia and Texas. Learn more
National Veteran Small Business Conference Coming to Detroit
The National Veteran Small Business Conference and Expo will be held in Detroit, MI, June 26-29. Veterans will network, team, and partner with program and acquisition decision makers. There will be numerous opportunities for training, as well as a Veteran Open House and Hiring Fair. Learn more

Joint VA/DOL Program Launches to Retrain 99,000 Unemployed Veterans
Starting May 15, unemployed Veterans between the ages of 35 and 60 can now apply for new benefits to cover education costs for up to one year through a joint VA and Department of Labor (DOL) program that focuses on retraining 99,000 Veterans for high-demand jobs.

Veterans of Different Eras Prepare for Competition at 26th National Veterans Golden Age Games
More than 700 Veterans will travel to St. Louis, Mo., May 31 ndash; June 5 to compete in the 26th National Veterans Golden Age Games, a national sports and recreation competition sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Help Hospitalized Veterans (HHV), and Veterans Canteen Service (VCS).

On November 15th, VA published its 2011 Performance and Accountability Report (PAR). The PAR enables the President, Congress, Veterans Service Organizations, and the public to assess VA #39;s performance on behalf of America #39;s Veterans.
