Glasgow, Scotland's largest city and the United Kingdom's third largest city, is a hive of tourism and industry and has a metroplitian population of over 1 million. The city boasts a wealth of modern architecture, cultural delights and a retail paradise that make it the third most visited destination for tourists in the United Kingdom after Edinburgh and London.
Glasgow is the focal point for Scotland's business and Industry. Since the 1980's the city's skyline has become adorned with ultra-modern high-rise developments which house the businesses that make Glasgow one of the top 20 financial centres in Europe. It is also the second largest retail space in the UK outside London.
Many areas of Glasgow radiate a cosmopolitan ambiance. The city has many beautiful parks and fine buildings and is situated on the River Clyde in the West Central Lowlands.
Glasgow is home to some of Scotland's finest galleries, theatres and libraries and holds a yearlong calendar of festivals that suit a wide variety of tastes, including film, comedy and jazz.
