Dear Social Edge Community, In the last decade, you mdash;the social entrepreneurs mdash;have together built a rich and trusted online community dedicated to changing business as usual. Your discussions around promising solutions, barriers to change, scale, metrics, and more, have contributed indelible value to the evolving social sector. The Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, a program of the Skoll Foundation, has evolved too. It is now the premiere international platform for social entrepreneurship; we just convened our 9th annual event. And we couldn rsquo;t be prouder that both Social Edge and the Forum continue to attract the best and the brightest thinkers and doers committed to global social change. Today, we are particularly excited to announce that we will now be combining these two powerful communities to create something new - Skoll World Forum Online: a year-round digital platform centered on content, community, and collaboration. The Skoll Foundation, since 1999, has invested, connected and celebrated the world rsquo;s leading social entrepreneurs. Our aim is to amplify progress and scale impact. Over the years, the needs of these social entrepreneurs mdash;and indeed the Social Edge community mdash;have expanded, and the demands for more cross-sector dialogue, exchange and collaboration across sectors and geographies have become clear. Skoll World Forum Online hopes to address these gaps in knowledge and connection by offering an even more robust experience of content and community. Skoll World Forum Online will advance critical, cross-sector conversations, curate insightful and inspiring content, elevate the reach and scope of our audience worldwide, and deploy community-minded features to encourage connection and collaboration. As early adopters and loyal enthusiasts of Social Edge, we invite you to be our co-creators of this new platform. Tell us about your experience: What kind of content did you enjoy? What kind of features would you like to see moving forward? We value your input enormously and hope you will take a moment to fill out this online survey. We would also like to express our deep gratitude to Victor d rsquo;Allant and Jason Clark for their work and stewardship, in concert with all of you, in building Social Edge into a meaningful voice for social entrepreneurship. Now, onward! After Social Edge stops publishing on June 1st, we expect a beta version of the new online platform in early fall 2012, and will update the community at key milestones of progress throughout the summer. Therefore, please continue to follow us through our social media channels. Thank you for your support, Sally Osberg President and CEO Skoll Foundation FAQs Q: Why the change? A: The users and audiences of Social Edge and the Skoll World Forum conference have increasingly overlapped. Rather than just maintain individual sites, we want to expand our reach. We are combining the two so we can maximize our resources, investing in enhanced technology, improved content and increased collaboration. Q: What will happen to the old blog posts and discussions? A: We will maintain an archive of the website in order to keep content links active, and we will migrate key conversation to the new platform as appropriate. Q: What will happen to my user profile? A: We will make every effort to migrate information from user profiles to the new platform, but we are developing the ability to create much richer identities and may ask users to re-register in order to ensure seamless integration. Q: Will Facebook, Twitter and other social media associated with Social Edge continue to stay active? A: We will continue to share interesting, relevant and meaningful content via our social media channels. The names of these channels will officially change in the future, but there is no required action on your part to continue following. Join this Week's Live Discussion Transitions and Reinventions The world around us is changing, and Social Edge will be changing, too. This is our last event before it becomes Skoll World Forum Online in the fall. What have we learned here? What are we excited to learn next? Join Charles (hipbone) Cameron as we talk about transitions and reinventions, lessons learned and new beginnings. Social Networks Follow us on Twitter
