CSEA's Annual Conference
CSEA rsquo;s 89th Annual Conference will be held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas from July 27-31, 2015. Over the course of a week, dedicated classified employees come from all over California to share ideas, debate and vote on resolutions, adopt a budget, elect state officers and present awards for outstanding service and achievement. The conference is where CSEA members set the leadership, legislative and budgetary direction of the union.
Proposed ballot measure takes aim at retirement security
Anti-pension politicians have revived their effort to deny retirement security for public servants such as classified employees, teachers, police officers and firemen by filling a statewide ballot initiative that would eliminate secure pensions for all new employees without guaranteeing any other type of retirement benefit in return.
Governor releases May Revise
On the strength of the economy and Proposition 30, state revenues have surged upwards since the Governor released his January budget. His May Revise now reflects a $6.7 billion increase in General Fund revenues compared to his January budget proposal.
2015 Classified Employees of the Year
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced the recipients of California rsquo;s 2015 Classified Employees of the Year award. Five of the six recipients are CSEA members: Raul Torres, Alfredo Perez, Janelle Cranch, Phoebe Minick and Gricelda Garcia De Cardenas. Congratulations!
CSEA member wins Community College Classified Employees of the Year award
Donni Jean Prince, a veterans resource specialist and member of CSEA rsquo;s Desert Community College District Chapter 407 was named one of California rsquo;s Community College Classified Employees of the Year. The award honors community college classified employees who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to professionalism and community colleges.
