Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is a statutory body of Ministry of Women Child Development, Government of India.
It functions as the nodal body for adoption of Indian children and is mandated to monitor and regulate in-country and inter-country adoptions.
CARA is designated as the Central Authority to deal with inter-country adoptions in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention
on Inter-country Adoption, 1993, ratified by Government of India in 2003.
CARA primarily deals with adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children through its associated /recognised adoption agencies.

Note: CARINGS is the only official portal for registration for Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs). Please do not register for adoption on any other web portal. You may access CARINGS through Passport is normally issued within 10 days of filing of application. In case of delays in issue of passport of adopted child, AFAA/CA may contact the Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA) concerned directly. They may also contact or toll free number 1800-111-311. ** Imp. Note: Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs) are mandated to pay a fee of Rs. 6000/- for Home Study Report (HSR), Rs. 40000/- as Adoption Fee (Child Care Corpus) and Rs. 2000/- for post adoption assessment per visit, as stipulated in Adoption Guidelines (2015). This is inclusive of all charges (including the Legal Expenses ) and no additional fees/ charges shall be levied.
