Welcome to U.S. Army Fisher Houses!
Dedicated to our greatest national treasure ... Our military service men and women and their loved ones. 鈥擹achary Fisher.
SINCE 1990 FISHER HOUSES HAVE BEEN SERVING MILITARY FAMILIES DURING TIMES OF MEDICAL CRISIS.p
These comfort homes are built by the Fisher House Foundation and given as gifts to the Military Services and the Veteran鈥檚 Affairs. The Army is the proud recipient of 17 of the 76 existing Fisher Houses. The Fisher House Foundation was established by noted philanthropist and patriot Zachary Fisher and his wife, Elizabeth. Zachary passed away in June 1999, but his nephew Arnold Fisher, and his grand-nephew, Ken Fisher, continue to build Fisher Houses and carry on Zachary鈥檚 legacy of helping military men and women and their families.
FISHER HOUSE!p
Within walking distance of the hospital is a comfortable temporary home, filled with warm, caring people who help family members endure the stresses associated with a loved one鈥檚 serious medical condition. The Fisher House enables families to stay together, cook meals, do laundry, and relax in a 鈥渉ome away from home鈥 atmosphere. There are no other facilities on military installations which provide this caring, compassionate environment. Families do not pay to stay at a Fisher House. Fees at Army, Navy, and Air Force Fisher Houses are underwritten by Fisher House Foundation. While we all wish there were no need for Fisher Houses, the reality of life is that thousands of active duty and retired military and veterans鈥 families are served each year by this wonderful network of beautiful homes! Fisher Houses, a gift of love!

Madigan Army Medical Center
Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM)(Tacoma), WA
CFC 56608
JBLM Fisher House I
Madigan Army Medical Center has a full spectrum of specialty and subspecialty services for adult and pediatric patients to include Developmental Pediatrics, Perinatology Fellowship, Hematology / Oncology, NICU, and Radiation Therapy.
Fisher House Information
Our mission is to provide our military members and their families a comfortable, nuturing and secure environment while they receive medical care at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC).
The Fisher House is located about one half mile from MAMC. The house provides seven family rooms with private bathrooms, TV/DVD, WiFi, telephone and computers. The house has a living room, dining room and kitchen; these common areas are shared by all families. The FH will provide most amenities to include toiletries, towels, linens, high chairs, booster seats, futons, 鈥減ack and plays鈥. Families are responsible for their meals and the kitchen is well furnished with the items needed for food preparation. Each family will have some refrigerator and freezer space plus a cabinet for their food. Laundry area and detergent are provided.
Eligibility and Cost
Fisher Houses prioritizes their rooms according to the severity of the medical condition. All active duty, retired military and military family members who live at least 40 miles away from the medical center are eligible. Referaral can be made in advance, however, that does not guarantee placement into the FH. There is no charge to stay at the FH and demand for our rooms is high; because of this, families should make a back-up plan and be prepared to stay in a local hotel (average $125 a night).
The Fisher House receives a significant portion of their funding through charitable contributions. Our donations come from individuals, spouses鈥 clubs, military organizations, and chapel designated offerings. The Fisher house operates as a Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI) of the United States Army. Donations made to the Fisher House are tax deductible.
